Students will learn how to take a Photoshop file and convert it into a website in Dreamweaver. The lesson will challenge students to create a simple hybrid site using images and Flash animated files in their websites to create a user interface. In this session students will learn:

Session Three
CSS Basics

This 2 hour session explains the use of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) in your websites. It is designed as a primer for those students who wish to delve further into the complex yet useful and time-saving tools that using CSS affords. In this session, students will learn:

  • What is CSS
  • Anatomy of a style sheet
  • CSS Templates
  • Laying Out Elements using CSS
  • Basic Styling Techniques
  • Creating a hybrid site with CSS and tables
  • Home study and getting the most out of online resources

Session Four
Converting a brochure from Indesign to a Fully Functional Website in Dreamweaver

This 2 hour session will take the knowledge learned in sessions
1-3 and challenges the students to take a brochure designed with Indesign and create a Graphic hybrid site. In this session,
students will learn:

  • Step-by-step hands on training for a specific project
  • Getting organized
  • How to use the skills they have learned and put
    them to practical use
  • How to identify potential problems
  • Bringing it all together
  • The difference between good and bad website design
  • Home Study and getting the most out of online resources

 

This course is designed to take designers who are familiar with print design using Indesign, Photoshop and Illustrator into the world of web design using Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Flash. This course starts out with the basics of web design and culminates in a finished print-to-web project that utilizes Photoshop, Dreamweaver and flash to turn a printed brochure into a fully functional website

The 8 hour course is broken up into four sessions:

Session One
Dreamweaver Basics

This 2 hour session is an overview of Dreamweaver's user interface and the basic design principles needed to create effective websites. In this session, students will learn:

  • Dreamweaver User Interface
  • How to create a Website
  • Linking basics
  • Using Tables
  • Site Control
  • Best Practices
  • Home study and getting the most out of online resources

Session Two
Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Flash
Inserting Media Objects

This 2 hour session expands upon using Dreamweaver as well as how to integrate graphics using Photoshop and Flash.

Javascript for Designers

This 2 hour course will introduce designers to the basics of using javascript code to accomplish specific goals that are standards of common websites. This course is not intended to teach designers how to write javascript from scratch, but rather how to utilize already written javascript to make their websites fully functional. In this course students will learn:


  • Actionscript basics
  • Using actionscript to make your movies interactive
  • Button and Movie Clip tips and tricks
  • Using swap to make quick changes
  • Identification and use of advanced features
  • Storyboarding basics
  • Best practices and online resources

Session Three
Flash Hands-On Session

This 2 hour session is the culmination of sessions 1-2 in a hands on project that challenges students to create astoryboard and use that storyboard to create a flash presentation. In this session
students will learn:

  • Animating Masks
  • Step-by-step project from Photoshop storyboard
    to Flash Presentation
  • Adding your presentation to an HTML Page
  • Identifying problems and how to solve them
  • A few words about Flash Video
  • Wrapping up
  • Best Practices and getting the most out of
    online resources

This 6 hour course is broken into 3 sessions:

Session One
Flash Basics

This 2 hour session outlines the Flash user interface and tools and helps them gain an understanding of how flash works and the options available to them. It also touches on the basics of animation and how to build Flash animations in a variety of ways. In this session, students will learn:

  • Creating simple tween animations
  • Creating simple shape animations

  • Organizing your movie

  • Using easing to polish your animations

Session Two
Flash for Websites

This 2 hour session expands upon the lessons learned in session one culminating in a project that challenges students to create a Flash presentation with actionscript for a specific website. In this session students will learn:


Beginning Actionscript

This 2 hour course is designed to teach student the basics of actionscript and how to utilize it in their flash movies. It is a basic primer for students who wish to further their knowledge of this useful coding language. In this course students will learn:

  • Introduction to actionscript
  • Movieclip and button control
  • Basic event handling
  • Basic operations
  • Animating with actionscript
  • How to utilized prewritten actionscript
  • Best Practices and online resources

Beginning FinalCut Pro

This 2 hour course is designed to teach students the basics of Final Cut Pro and how to utilize it to create flash movies. It is a basic primer for students who wish to further their knowledge of this useful video editing program. In this course students will learn:

  • Introduction to FinalCut Pro
  • Timeline Basics
  • Basic video and audio transitions.
  • Basic operations
  • Applying filters and special effects
  • How to prepare and organize your video and audio files to start editing

Beginning AfterEffects

This 2 hour course is designed to teach student the basics of AfterEffects and how to utilize it to create titles for your movies. It is a basic primer for students who wish to further their knowledge of this useful video program. In this course students will learn:

  • Applying filters and special effects to videos
