Sr. Denim Apparel Technical Designer

A growing apparel company located in the Westminster metropolitan area is looking for a talented and detail-oriented senior-level denim technical designer. The ideal candidate is a meticulous and collaborative team player with at least seven years of experience in a similar field or discipline. As a senior apparel denim technical designer, you will work closely with the senior product coordinator, sample coordinator, and the brands team of technical designers to ensure quality and consistent fit, sizing, and design across the company's denim products.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the senior product coordinator, sample coordinator, product coordinator, and other technical designers to develop and execute fit intent and design into mass production of denim products.
- Work across departments and teams to refine and align design direction and fit intent.
- Develop technical packets within PLM that ensure commercial viability and cost-effectiveness.
- Audit contractor samples and design packets to ensure quality and design accuracy.
- Regularly assess production processes, quality, and costs to provide recommendations on improvement.
- Lead fit sessions and ensure consistency across sizing, fit, and design across product categories.
- Negotiate pricing with vendors as needed and proactively engage potential business partners when the opportunity arises.
- Maintain the brands measuring manual and fit base libraries by reviewing and revising
- Proactively review existing procedures and offer suggestions for improvement as appropriate.
- Serve as the pattern and grading expert for other team members, and review the work of junior designers.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- A bachelors degree from a four-year college or university.
- At least 7 years of applicable training or experience, including experience in designing and producing denim bottoms.
- Must be proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Must be a proficient multi-tasker who can work well in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to quickly assess quality in order to maintain standards with vendors and contractors.
- Experience creating computer-generated technical sketches.
- Must have an expert understanding of garment construction, fabrics, trims, finishes, fitting, and design techniques.
- Must have an expert understanding of pattern-making, from grading and construction to fit and adjustments.
- Basic understanding of math, including the ability to calculate discounts, interest, proportions, commissions, etc.
