As a Packaging Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, testing, and developing structural packaging solutions for a wide range of consumer products. Your role will involve working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure packaging meets cost, schedule, and brand performance standards while maintaining high quality and functionality. This position offers the opportunity to bring fresh ideas to life and drive packaging innovation for a leading global brand.

Key Responsibilities:

- Collaborate with Designers: Work directly with graphic designers to create packaging structures that meet brand guidelines, enhance retail shelf appeal, and ensure product safety and functionality.

- Feasibility Studies: Perform initial assessments to determine the appropriate packaging size, style, and cost considerations for new and existing products.

- Cost Optimization: Evaluate structural packaging designs for cost-effectiveness, including material selection, sourcing options, manufacturability, and production efficiency.

- Sample Evaluation: Review and assess pre-production and production samples to ensure packaging meets quality standards, specifications, and visual requirements.

- Documentation & Diagrams: Generate precise packaging die-lines, assembly instructions, interior protective packaging designs, and pallet configurations for both physical and digital packaging documentation.

- Drive Innovation: Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in packaging materials, technologies, and production methods to create innovative, cutting-edge designs.

- Manufacturing Collaboration:Work closely with manufacturing and quality engineers (both local and overseas) to ensure that packaging designs are aligned with production capabilities and standards.

- Quality & Cost Improvements: Continuously monitor packaging performance and look for opportunities to improve quality, reduce costs, and maintain the perceived value of the product.

Skills & Experience:

- 3- 5 years of experience with Packaging Engineering

- Technical Expertise:Proficiency in packaging design software such as ArtiosCAD and SolidWorks 3D for creating retail-ready packaging designs.

- Adobe Creative Suite: Strong working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for packaging graphics and documentation.

- Packaging Materials Knowledge: Experience with a variety of packaging materials, including paperboard, corrugated board, blister packs, and vacuum-formed plastics.

- Manufacturing Knowledge: Familiarity with the manufacturing processes involved in packaging production, from concept to final product.

- Documentation Skills: Ability to generate accurate die-lines, assembly instructions, planograms, and pallet configuration drawings.

- A portfolio showcasing your previous structural packaging designs will be an asset.

Hourly rate is $25-32/hr, DOE.
