Senior PHP / SaaS Developer

Full-time, Remote (Global)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior PHP / SaaS Developer to lead the conversion of an existing proprietary PHP application into a scalable, commercial Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform. This is a full-time, remote position with long-term ownership and responsibility for the platforms ongoing development, infrastructure, and growth.

You will work closely with leadership to transform a proven internal system into a multi-customer SaaS product, while also supporting our WordPress-based websites and related integrations.

Key Responsibilities

SaaS Conversion & Core Development

  • Convert an existing PHP application into a secure, scalable, multi-tenant SaaS environment

  • Refactor and optimize PHP code for commercial use

  • Integrate and maintain third-party APIs

  • Design, optimize, and maintain MySQL / SQL databases

Cloud Infrastructure (AWS)

  • Set up, configure, and maintain AWS servers and services

  • Manage deployments, backups, monitoring, and system security

  • Ensure performance, uptime, and scalability as customer usage grows

Subscription & Billing Systems

  • Implement and maintain subscription-based billing workflows

  • Manage recurring payments, licensing, and access controls

  • Integrate billing data with internal accounting systems

  • Ensure accuracy and reliability of subscription cash flow

Ongoing Product Ownership

  • Maintain and enhance a customer service / support portal

  • Implement feature requests, improvements, and system updates

  • Troubleshoot issues and provide ongoing maintenance

WordPress Development & Maintenance

  • Migrate, maintain, and optimize WordPress sites

  • Develop or modify themes, plugins, and integrations

  • Ensure security, performance, and compatibility with updates

Required Qualifications

  • Strong professional experience with PHP

  • Experience designing or maintaining SaaS applications

  • Solid knowledge of MySQL / SQL

  • Hands-on experience managing AWS infrastructure

  • Experience working with third-party APIs

  • Experience with WordPress development and migrations

  • Ability to work independently in a remote, distributed environment

  • Strong communication and an  ownership mindset

Nice to Have

  • Experience integrating SaaS platforms with accounting systems

  • Familiarity with security best practices for SaaS applications

  • DevOps experience (CI/CD, automated deployments)

  • Experience supporting customer-facing platforms

Employment Details

  • Position: Full-time

  • Work Arrangement: 100% Remote

  • Compensation: Salary dependent upon country and location

  • Time Zone: Flexible, with some overlap with U.S. business hours preferred
