GUIDE TO CREATIVE POSITIONS

PrePress Specialist
aka Preflight Technician (Printer)

Your title is synonymous with Quality Control.

Your eye for detail assures everyone that the end pays homage to the means. While your function is purely technical, you understand many emotions are riding on the output of each piece.

Most companies ask for experience with traditional prepress, but nowadays having experience in digital prepress is a plus.

Your most important responsibilities include: reviewing and managing color outputs and resolutions; producing proofs and plates; and “fine-tuning” scanners, image-setters and other printing equipment – all in an environment where deadlines are crucial.

Tools of the trade: Mac and PC. Design applications: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and pre-flight software. Attention to detail is a must.
